Snag Kourtney Kardashian’s Spot-On Coat – UsMagazine.com

December 28th, 2011 by admin

For a more affordable version, I went on a long search for something that was as voluminous and not cropped. Lo and behold, I found this amazing Faux Fur Leopard Coat from Lipsy.

It’s been hard catching up with always-on-the-go Kourtney Kardashian. But it seems like every time she walks out the door, she wears something I want to emulate.

I really love her Funktional Predator Coat. It’s the perfect thing to make you smile. I like the cut, the look and the fit. At $840, it’s an investment piece that will never go out of style.

This must-have coat of the season hits the spot.

It’s the perfect piece to get through a grey winter. I like the loose fit, the shortened sleeves (all the more reason to wear long leather gloves) and the $163.78 price tag.

Recessionista Haute Harley – UsMagazine.com

You know a few screws are loose when you start obsessing over something a high-profile celebrity like Rihanna wears.

I have become a complete fashion slave to this womans every style move! Question: Should I keep the Chanel bag? Do I love it? Answer: Well. You will love it more when you see Rihanna walking out of Da Silvano carrying it and you cant get it anymore. THIS IS WHAT I’VE BECOME: A broke, starry-eyed, foxy-moron!

Alexander McQueen’s open-toed bootie — with a zipper pull with a skull at the base — unsnaps to glove your foot like a reverse lapel…its simply sick! And its ridiculously expensive. So, I had given up hope of emulating my fave celeb when suddenly, my good friend, the King Of Copy, Steve Madden, created this insane replica of the zip bootie.

Its not the real thing…but its good enough for me! The skull is gone but its still got a nice zipper pull. Available in black leather with a 5-inch heel, the open-toed bootie is $149.95. Compared to the original Faithful bootie which is $1,155.00.

Now if I can just make Rihanna’s millions, then well really be in business.

Kao, Paper, Scissors

December 21st, 2011 by admin

Paper-Cut-Project designers Nikki Salk and Amy Flurry bring a whole new meaning to the phrase “look good on paper.” The Atlanta-based duo has designed paper art pieces for the likes of Hermès and Cartier, and tomorrow their elaborate creations will accessorize the looks on the runway at Jen Kao.

“It’s a weird kismet,” Kao tells Style.com. “Right after my last season, I was thinking about doing a paper-inspired collection, and the next day, out of the blue, I got a postcard from them about possibly collaborating.”

Salk and Flurry then went to work laboring on the pieces to add a bit of fantasy to Kao’s “streetwear-inspired” collection. “My collection is a balance between beautiful and enticing and dangerous,” Kao says. Tomorrow, watch for paper headdresses and a shoulder cage made with Bristol paper, glue, and an X-Acto knife, that’s it. “I have been working on one piece for two weeks, it’s insane,” Flurry says. “These are taking that long, yes, but the end result is crazy beautiful and it drives us to do what we do.”

Even the paper cuts don’t stop these two. “Yes, I have several,” Flurry says, laughing. “More than paper cuts, you get a callus because of working with an X-Acto knife.” Well, pain is beauty, right?

Lunching With Lulu

December 19th, 2011 by admin

“I was in a romantic mood this time around,” Lulu Kennedy reported at the star-studded lunch to celebrate the Fall collection from her supergroup-style label, Lulu & Co., at the very swank Harry’s Bar, a venue that’s light-years away from her gritty home turf in East London. Kennedy (pictured, right) is the founder of Fashion East, the legendary talent incubator that’s spawned the likes of Gareth Pugh, Jonathan Saunders, Richard Nicoll, and Roksanda Ilincic, and for her namesake label, she collaborates with her protegés and other young guns of interest. Her mood this year led her to include a few couples as collaborators, including artists Tim Noble and Sue Webster, besties Bella Freud (center) and Susie Bick, and photographer and art director Patrick Waugh and Alistair McLellan.

Kennedy and business partner Tania Fares (left) created Lulu & Co. last year to celebrate a decade of Fashion East, and it proved so popular they did it again. As last season, there’s a retrospective shine over the whole. “This year, it’s a mix of Fashion East past and present,” Kennedy said. “We have the couples who are new, but also the old—the journeymen of Fashion East like Jonny Saunders and Richard Nicoll. We worked hard at making the clothes more affordable and wearable.” (There’s a word not always top of mind for Kennedy’s kindred on their own runways.)

Charlotte Dellal, Mary McCartney (Stella’s photographer sister), Camilla Al Fayed, Sara Parker Bowles, Liberty Ross, and a clutch of designers including Roland Mouret, Erdem Moralioglu (below left), Roksanda Ilincic, Nicholas Kirkwood (below right), and Marios Schwab all stopped by to toast to the new. (Though Harry’s did make for a bit of culture clash—Henry Holland tweeted that he needed to get special dispensation to enter wearing his shorts.)

Of course, as more and more interest is directed at London’s new garde, there’ll be plenty more meet-ups of the gritty and the glamorous. England has just gotten a stylish new royal client of particularly high profile, and one wonders if she’ll be as receptive to young U.K. designers as her counterpart of sorts, Michelle Obama, has been to young Americans. “I think her McQueen wedding dress was beautiful, but I think now she should turn her eye to some other U.K. designers,” Kennedy said. “We are working on Resort now with Roksanda, and there is this gorgeous black and white draped number and I thought, wow, this dress needs an occasion and certainly [the Duchess of Cambridge] will have plenty of those. We will send her the lookbook, so fingers crossed. I mean, Mrs. Obama chose Roksanda, so here’s hoping that the Duchess will, too.”

Step Into Spring With Celebs’ Fave Footwear Line – UsMagazine.com

December 12th, 2011 by admin

So, it was such a welcomed surprise that the second launch of inexpensive footwear from this line was back at Target. Here’s the Miss Trish of Capri for Target sandal in black with coral, faux pearl and a starfish for a staggering $24.99. Available now. There are several other styles as well so, get them while they’re hot.

I remember the first time I saw these Miss Trish of Capri jeweled sandals. Like I had never seen anything like it before. These sandals launched a series of imitators and posers but they never quite lived up to the luxe feeling of these “St. Tropez” sandals. Celebs like Diane Kruger wore these bejeweled sandals and made everyone nuts. Basically, every ornamented sandal comes from this lady.

Kate Bosworth Lovs Vanessa Bruno

December 9th, 2011 by admin

“The first thing I was asked when I arrived on set was whether I was afraid of heights,” Kate Bosworth told Style.com over whiskey and Cokes at London’s Brown’s Hotel last night. “And let’s just say, it’s a good thing I am not.”

For Lov, the new Bosworth-starring short film that launches Vanessa Bruno’s Fall ‘11 campaign, the starlet was hoisted to the top branches of a 40-foot fir tree in Slovenia. The role also called for Kate to do backflips, ride horses, endure a broken heart, and, as she put it, “run the gamut of emotions in less than three minutes. I had to be strong in one shot, then incredibly fragile and vulnerable, then heartbroken and lashing out in the next. But you know, that is life, isn’t it?”

The Straw Dogs star is something of a favorite of Bruno’s. “It was a coup de foudre,” the designer explained. “As soon as we met, I knew she was perfect because she has intelligence about the way she wears clothes, and a subtlety that not a lot of girls have.” It probably didn’t hurt, either, that Bosworth has those classic Scandinavian features that represent Bruno’s Danish heritage—a heritage that was not only the inspiration for the collection (think Nordic knits, fur touches, and cozy bonnets) but also the film.

“Vanessa really knows how to design for a woman. The way she drapes her blouses shows off the sensuality of a woman’s neck and the clavicle area,” Bosworth added. “She has a wild ambition and a real passion for clothes that I believe comes through loud and clear in this film.” Check out the world premiere of the Lov, above.
